Gazipur gas balloon blast: Comedian Abu Hena Rony shifted to cabin

The physical condition of Rony and police constable Md Zillur Rahman has improved, says Dr Samanta Lal Sen

Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and police constable Md Zillur Rahman, who recently got injured in a gas balloon explosion in Gazipur, have been shifted to the cabin of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.

The Institute coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday.

He said their physical condition improved. They are now are able to talk. They can also eat and breathe normally. 

They were shifted to the cabin at 2pm, added Samanta Lal Sen. 

“The injured have been kept separately in the cabin. They need to stay in the cabin under the supervision of the hospital for several more days,” he added.

The duty doctors said that no visitor or person from the media without family members is allowed to visit their cabin.

Ansar members and police personnel have been posted outside their cabin. 

Abu Hena Rony won the Zee Bangla comedy show Mirakkel season 6 in 2011.

On September 16, Rony and four others sustained burn injuries in a gas blast on the fourth founding anniversary event of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).

Around 25% of the surface area of the comedian’s body was burnt.

After the incident, the injured people were first taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.

Later, Rony and Zillur were shifted to the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute for advanced treatment.
